India fight back against Bangladesh


Dhaka: Bangladesh pace bowler Rubel Hossian made the first breakthrough bowling out Indian opener Rohit Sharma at 3 in 1.1 overs in the ICC Champions Trophy warm-up match at Kennington Oval in London on Tuesday.

Rubel conceded no runs for his first hunt as his first ball showed the way out to Sharma(1), after Mustafizur Rahman’s first for Bangladesh spell in the innings.

Mustafizur Rahman made the second breakthrough bowling out Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane (11) when India were 21/2 (6.1 overs)

Shikhar Dhawan (28) and  Dinesh Karthik (26) were on batting when India collected 69/2 in 15 overs.

Earlier, Bangladesh, led by Shakib Al Hasan for this match, won the toss and decided to bowl first against India.

The Tigers’ 2nd and last warm-up match begins at 3:30pm (Bangladesh time).

After a day’s break, Bangladesh will play the host England in the opener of the 8th edition ICC Champions Trophy in their Group A match at Kennington Oval in Londo on June 1.

In the remaining Group matches, Bangladesh will face Australia and New Zealand on June 5 and 9 respectively.

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza-led Bangladesh started their warm-up campaign with a two-wicket loss against Pakistan in the first warm-up match at Edgbaston, Birmingham, England on Saturday (May 27).
